“The Memory Clock” by Kit Chokly

The Memory Clock is an audio project by Kit Chokly, an MA student in Carleton’s Communication and Media Studies Graduate Program. It’s a story about a material artefact — a clock — that represents a world of personal significance to Kit and their sister, Rebecca.

The Memory Clock

The Memory Clock is a story that belongs to a much larger project as well. It’s one of the first entries in a project Kit calls "The Isolation Museum": a digital repository — a website — for people to share stories during this time of separation. Over the past year, contributions to The Isolation Museum have been made from all over the world, and it now contains hundreds of artefacts.

So take the time to listen not only to The Memory Clock to learn more about what it is, what it means, and the ways that Kit listens to it. But also, take the time to listen to Kit’s more recent reflection on both The Memory Clock and The Isolation Museum, one year after releasing them into the world.

Both of these pieces, The Memory Clock and Kit’s reflection, were featured in episode 6 of The Place of Sound.

Oh, and visit the website at isolationmuseum.com and leave your own contribution!
