“Fuelled with Anxiety” by Roop Bajwa

How do the sounds of a space invoke a feeling, an experience, or an environment? While we all mediate and traverse spaces throughout our lives, there are particular spaces of meaning articulated in sound. In considering what resonates with me, I narrowed in on my negative relationship with the act of filling my car with gas at night. The landscape, or space, of a gas station at night, is a soundscape full of both expected and unexpected sounds that merge to create an anxiety-inducing space and experience time and time again. Take a listen to my story of how I traverse this space through sound.

Hi there! I recently completed my fourth year as a Communication and Media Studies major at Carleton University. Media production has always been a passion and interest of mind and truly enjoyed the work I was been able to create in the digital media production class. Now that I’m out of school, I’ve begun working in communications at a media company and have been using my downtime to indulge in travelling, watching movies, and trying new restaurants.
