sounding place, placing sound.

The Place of Sound is a student-run radio show/podcast produced in Carleton University’s Communication and Media Studies Program. Hosted and co-produced by an upper-division undergraduate student, the show explores the idea of ‘place’ through the ears of students.

While rooted in Communication and Media Studies, The Place of Sound partners with courses, instructors, and programs across Carleton University—and beyond!—that incorporate audio media into teaching and learning. These collaborations bring a diversity of perspectives and creative approaches to the show.

Tune in every other monday at 6:30pm EST to listen live on CKCU, browse the episode archive here, or subscribe on your preferred podcast platform.

The Place of Sound has received support from Carleton University through the Faculty of Public and Global Affairs via a Teaching Development Grant, and through Teaching and Learning Services via the Students as Partners Program and a Future Learning Innovation Fellowship.

The Place of Sound is part of an ongoing research and pedagogy project on sonic geographies and audio media pedagogy led by Dr. Vincent Andrisani.
