let’s listen together
the place of sound is a show that explores the theme of “space” using sound and listening. we consider space both generously and expansively, as a lens through which to engage questions of culture, policy, governance, technology, and everyday life. episodes are built around student-produced audio work and surface the kinds of issues that matter in classrooms across disciplines. while the show began as a platform for experiential learning in the Communication and Media Studies program, we’re now inviting instructors from across Carleton University to take part and share the creative work emerging from their courses.
if you’ve assigned sound-based work in the past or are interested in integrating it into future teaching, we’d love to hear from you. the process is simple: introduce the show to your students, gauge interest, and support participation throughout the semester. to hear examples of what this sounds like in action, check out episode 74 and episode 75, produced in partnership with the Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism. for more on how to get involved, download the instructor handbook.
