“Cells to Suites” by Ava Campanelli

"Cells to Suites" invites listeners on a journey through the fascinating history of a hostel located in downtown Ottawa. In exploring Ottawa as a tourist destination, I sat down with the hostel's Experience Curator, Emma. Through this conversation, you will soon discover that this isn't your typical hostel and stands as a testament to how places transform over time through their use, the people who occupy them, and how they exist in the world as a space.

I had no idea about this place as an Ottawa landmark.

Hello, my name is Ava Campanelli, and I had the pleasure of taking COMS 4501 in my fourth year of the Communication & Media Studies program here at Carleton. Producing work in COMS 4501 reignited my passion for storytelling through creative mediums and sparked a new interest in conducting interviews and producing journalistic work with a creative edge. Working on this audio documentary project, Cells to Suites, was an exciting and rewarding experience, and I had so much fun bringing it to life. I hope you enjoy listening!
