“Cell Memory” by Janelle Hamstra

Listen as Sylvie Hanes tells the exciting tale of how she discovered home on the Camino de Santiago, and confirmed it with a DNA test. Sylvie is my manager in a corporate environment, and even in that space her story-telling abilities have always stood out to me. I am grateful for her willingness to sit down with me and tell me about one of the greatest personal revelations of home she has experienced in her life.

In this audio portrait you'll hear that "home" is not always just a place, an object, a person, or a feeling. It's built into our cells, it's part of us. For Sylvie this idea is especially true—from her Spanish-style sleeves to her bright and exuberant personality—home is part of her being and it influences every part of her life.

They say that the body has memories, the cells have memories.
— Sylvie Hanes
Janelle Hamstra

Hi! My name is Janelle and I've recently finished my undergrad in Communications and Media at Carleton University. I had the incredible opportunity to take the media production workshop in my fourth year, which is where this audio portrait was produced! It was a course that stretched me creatively and prepared me for the work I do now with my small business in digital marketing and social media! Thanks for tuning in!
